Dr. Alan Dixon

Dr. Alan Dixon is the Lake Victoria Basin Lead for the CLARS project. Alan is a Human Ecologist with research interests in sustainable development and social-ecological systems in the global south. He is Co-PI on the UK-ESRC elements of CLARS that focus on climate migration in the Lake Victoria Basin.  Alan has worked on various participatory action research and consultancy projects in sub-Saharan Africa over the last 30 years, and in collaboration with many NGOs and CSOs, has helped develop ‘functional landscape approaches’ to wetland management that produce sustainable outcomes for people and the environment.
